Vinted Users Share Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
